THE ISSUE – VOGUE September 2015

09 September of 2015 by

Of all the September magazine issues none is more highly anticipated than the 123-year-old fashion title Vogue September 2015. There was even a film about it – the 2009 flick “The September Issue,” a behind-the-scenes documentary following editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and her staff during the production of the September 2007 issue that showcased many testy exchanges between editors, designers and photographers.

The 832-page, 2015 issue weighing in at roughly five pounds features pop icon Beyonce gracing the cover sporting a pink sequined elegant Marc Jacobs gown and coat with wet look hair. The image was shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino. Inside you’ll find an informative interview with the songstress’ “wardrobe consultant.”

The theme of the hefty volume is: Forces of Fashion Rule Breakers Defining The Way We Dress Now.  The issue features designer ensembles from Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Riccado Tisci, John Galiano for Maison Margiela, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne, among others. Another fashion feature highlights the Victorian trend with lots of flared sleeves, florals and lace looks from Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Chanel.

Big buck ads (over 600 pages) featured fall looks by the likes of Prada whose models wore fur trim on tweed suits and Ralph Lauren’s luxurious fur vests and oversized fur hats.  Gucci’s minimalist ad popped with a model sporting a funky red and pink patterned fur coat.

Discount retailer Target got in on the act too, putting out a pretty penny for an imaginative 11-page spread that recreated classic Vogue ads from the past 100 years – using only Target products.

And in a nod to pop culture the magazine featured a spread with the cast of Fox’s breakout show “Empire” showcasing Taraji P. Henson, a Diva we love, draped in – what else – a silky black mink coat.
