From March 3-6, 2010, pavilions 14 and 18 of the Fiera Milano Rho trade fair complex hosted MIFUR, the world’s most important showcase for Fur and Leather fashion, turning the spotlight on young international talents and great names in fur. There were two off-site events in the city: the REMIX International Competition for young designers, which closed the first day of the exhibition, and the March 4 fashion show, featuring a selection of brands shown at the Exhibition that sumed up the autumn/winter offerings for 2010/2011.
March 4, Italian designer, Laura Grillo, was awarded the Gold prize at REMIX, the International Fur Design Competition at La Visionnaire. The REMIX Silver prize went to Eliana Dimitrakopoulou representing the UK. The Bronze prize was awarded to Hyun Yeu. At REMIX this year, IFTF introduced a new fourth prize category, the special OA™ award. This award recognized the designers who exclusively used OA™ fur in their designs.
This is an introduction to the origin and main characteristics of some of the most common furs used today.
