On September 29, Saga Furs together with BIFTPARK unveiled a stunning 60-piece collection for Fall/ Winter 2016. As always with Saga-organized events, the show was a great success, attracting a rapt audience of around 1,000 guests.
Inspired by – and perfectly embodying – the currently red-hot 1960s “Go-Go” style, highlights of the new collection included furs in vibrant hues such as water blue and orange. Saga Furs’ designer Kisu Aho with the rather daring skill, insertion black fox panels into the striking water blue fox in degrade level proved another big talking point amongst viewers. The inclusion of matching men’s garments was another notable success at the show. Click to watch Saga Furs runway video
While no novice when it comes to designing with fur, the USA’s Bibhu Mohapatra once again took his reputation for innovation to the next level by using different techniques inspired at Saga Furs Design Centre. The end result was the Beijing first appearance of a series of new silhouette of sheared fox and fox vest in tower pattern, renovated new cutting such as mink and silver fox trench coat and fabulous evening fur dresses that captivated all who saw them. Standout emerging design talents included Chinese first-time fur designer, Alicia Lee. Harnessing her considerable fashion expertise and taking church-style stained-glass windows as her inspiration, Alicia succeeded in translating subtle hints of color into what everyone agreed was a refreshingly young at heart collection. Italy’s Francesca Liberatore’s free-spirited, slightly mischievous designs proved that she’ll be yet another name worth watching out for this time next year. Playfully blending different combinations of natural materials together with unexpected shapes such as derange sleeves and fronts, her designs are sure to prove a big hit with a new generation of fur fans. Renowned for its deceptively simple yet incredibly elegant styles, HUI by Zhao Huizhou is already a legendary fashion label in China. The simple lines, dusty colors and delightful sheared mink and mink combos that distinguished the designer’s Fall/ Winter 2016-collection demonstrate that her trademark mastery of form and function now also extends to fur. “The designers behind our Fall/ Winter 2016-collection all visited and took full advantage of the resources at the Saga Furs Design Centre before creating their collections. The garments on show in Beijing clearly show their time with us has obviously given them all the inspiration they needed to maximize their creative potential,” said Nora Tse, Head of Marketing, Asia at Saga Furs.
In addition to being a magnet for designers, fashion company representatives, department store buyers and the fur trade in general, the Saga Furs and BIFTPARK Fall/ Winter preview also attracted around 100 top media reporters, photographers, fashion bloggers and stylists.
“Chic, fresh and luxurious, the garments in this year’s collection not only showcased their designers’ unique characteristics, but also how each talent was able to culturally interpret Saga’s craft techniques. The high profile exposure the show has generated represents yet another major leap forward for China’s fashion and fur industry,” says Samantha Vesala, Business Director, Asia at Saga Furs.
