Fashion elitists, celebrities and government officials along with local and foreign fur trade VIPs and more than 25 media organizations gathered at the Rixos President Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city, on the evening of October 2, 2015, to experience NAFA’s fur gala show entitled “Journeys”.

Following a champagne reception, more than 250 guests made their way to the Grand Ballroom of the city’s premiere hotel where they were greeted by Bobby Poulios, Vice-President of NAFA Buyer Relations, and Oksana Moroz, Marketing Director for Eastern Europe and Russia. A brief presentation of awards honoring buyers of the Top Lots of NAFA ranched mink and silver fox and premium wild furs added to the excitement of the evening’s activities.

As lights dimmed, a hush fell over the crowd and all eyes became locked on the huge video screen that beckoned everyone to soar beyond the mountaintops on a journey through the world of fur fashion. Within seconds, there was enthusiastic applause greeting the multi fur and fabric collection of Avenue.

The ensuing scenes kept the audience on the edge of their seats as highlights from the collections of veteran prêt-à-porter designers Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta shared the spotlight with Gianfranco Ferré Furs and Guy Laroche Furs. Color was abundant in luxury garments of sable, fisher, fox, and mink.

Fresh silhouettes in magnificent Black NAFA and NAFA Mink were offered by several leading fur brands from Europe and the UAE. These included Abel, Braschi, Ego, EFD Papadapoulis and KN Furs. They emphasized fine quality, short nap NAFA mink featuring garments worked with contrasting tones to create delicate patterns within the designs. Inochi opted for rich colors in raccoon.

Celebrated Russian designers Sergey Efremov, Igor Gulyeav and Natalia Valevskaya brought their own inspirations to the catwalk with eclectic mixes of furs and fabrics. Renowned Russian fur brands thrilled guests with their interpretation of fur fashion. Prima Donna’s dynamic men’s jackets in coyote, beaver and raccoon had hands clapping immediately. The amazing mix of dyed and natural foxes by Via Cappella brought gasps from the crowd.

The finale of BLACK NAFA Mink brought NAFA’s journey into the world of fur fashion to its last stop. Cody Bokshowan, NAFA’s Creative Director, summed up the evening performance, “Life truly is a journey and tonight we took our guests on a very special journey. The incredible beauty and fine quality of NAFA furs provided designers the means to take each and every one of us to an exciting destination.”
