MIFUR 2016 attracts foreign buyers to Milan and brings about a change of dates regarding its next edition in synergy with the fashion system.
The 21st edition of Mifur, the International Fur and Leather exhibition, comes to an end with a 63% increase in the number of foreign visitors, together with signs of recovery in terms of Italian buyers (+2%), reaching an overall total of 9.647 visitors.
The buyers are slightly down registering on a whole -4,5% compared to 2015, even though positive signs are coming from the Salon turnover. The curtain has fallen on Mifur, the 4-day-exhibition which took place from the 2nd to the 5th of March in Fiera Milano Rho, carrying with it interesting future prospects.

Extensive Far East presence at the Salon: Japan +14,29%; Korea +50,95%; Hong Kong +9% confirming the opening up of this market that is more and more interested in the segment exhibited in Mifur and very concerned with Made in Italy. Only the Chinese buyers were down (-9 %).
After a remarkable decrease in 2015 (-35%), the Russian market is showing some signs of recovery. Even though the buyers from the Russian Federation are slightly down in this edition too (-15%), they seem to be regaining confidence. Ukraine – another important market in this sector – registered instead a strong rebound (+29,63%).
The Euro zone is still suffering (France, Germany, Spain, Greece) with an average decrease of 25%. The most sensitive statistic has been registered by France, confirming the difficulties met by the trade operators from beyond the Alps due to the coincidence between Mifur and the Paris fashion week and the French exhibitions. On the contrary, the UK registers +18,37%. The exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the interest shown by the English department stores.
The attendance of visitors from the U.S.A. has fallen (-25,23%) but the exhibitors are nevertheless satisfied with the presence, during the Salon, of the most important American buyers, mostly operating in the fashion segment.

MIFUR 2017 next edition, which will take place from the 24th to the 27th of February 2017, has also been made official. The Salon will thus be held at the same time as the Milanese fashion week and the other fashion system events.
