We are very excited to announce that designer and blogger Samantha de Reviziis will be the official blogger of #REMIX2014 in collaboration with Vogue Italia. We caught up with her before the competition…
Ciao Samantha! We’re very happy to welcome you to the REMIX team. Why do you love fur?
I love fur for many, many reasons. The most important reason is that fur is a natural flexible material and allows me to show my creativity and express myself in the best way. Fur is extremely special as it is long-lasting and requires delicate craftmanship to create. Each fur garment is a peice of art.
As a designer yourself, what will you be looking for in the winning #REMIX2014 garment?
In the winning #REMIX2014 garment, I will be looking for innovation and fresh ideas. There are always lots of them at REMIX. Fur is a material that should be played with, and the pelt does not have to stay whole. Techniques I will be looking out for are things such as intarsia (knitting), game colors and new processing of materials.
Do you have a favourite from this year’s finalists?
No I don’t have favourite – I don’t like to judge a garment from a picture I see on a screen so I’m really curious to see their creations when they arrive in Milan.
This year, we’re excited to be collaborating with Vogue Italia and welcoming Franca Sozzani to the judging panel. Why do you think REMIX is important?
I think that REMIX is important and it is a good platform for young designers to launch themselves. For some, this will be their first international competition, whereas others may be slightly more established. It is also a great networking event, both with people in the fur trade and fashion people also this year thanks to the collaboration with Vogue Italia.
